Strawberry Brownie Trifle {recipe}

strawberry brownie trifle

All of my recipes start out the same: “I had to take food to a party, and so I came  up with this recipe”….

Yeah. I like to cook to impress. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Trifles are always so impressive. Besides the fact that they taste yummy, they are almost always really pretty! This would be a perfect dessert to take to your Labor Day BBQ.

This Strawberry Brownie Trifle tastes amazing, and it’s absolutely gorgeous!

Look at all those beautiful layers.

I’m telling you, you can’t go wrong serving this sinful dessert.

And yes, despite the fact that it has strawberries in it, it is VERY sinful. Don’t make this the day you start weight watchers.

This recipe is party sized. If you are making it for a smaller group, just half the recipe. And if you’re counting calories, you can use fat free cool whip, fat free cream cheese, skim milk, and fat free- sugar free pudding.

To make this dessert, you’ll need:

1 block cream cheese
2 tubs cool whip
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 large chocolate pudding
3 cups milk
2 pound strawberries
1 box brownie mix (prepared)

Start by baking your brownies according to the directions on the box. Cut them up into 1 inch pieces.

If you are like my family, you love ooey-gooey brownies, and so it’s tempting to take them out of the oven a little early. Don’t do that with this recipe. Your brownies are going to be covered in pudding and cool whip, so if anything, you want them a little on the crispy side so they don’t end up soggy.

In one bowl, mix together your softened cream cheese, 1 tub of cool whip, and powdered sugar.

In another bowl, mix together your pudding and milk. Let sit for a few minutes, and fold in your other tub of cool whip.

 Hull and slice your strawberries.

 And then we start layering.

I did 2 layers of each thing, so make sure you reserve half of your ingredients for another layer.

Start with your brownies.  Then add a layer of the pudding mixture, the cream cheese mixture, and a layer of strawberries.

And repeat the layers.

Since trifles are supposed to look pretty, you’ll want to make sure to push your layers against the edge of your dish so you can see the different layers. Especially the strawberries.

And you’re done.

You can serve this immediately, but make sure to refrigerate any leftovers.

Don’t worry, there won’t be any leftovers… which is a good thing if you don’t want this staring you in the face every time you open your fridge.
